Meet Erica Gilman

My journey to performance nutrition
My passion for becoming a nutrition coach for athletes came from my own experience as an athlete, learning firsthand how much nutrition impacts performance. During my first year of college, I faced the common challenges athletes encounter when balancing training, academics, and daily life.
For the first time, I was responsible for my own groceries and meal prep. With a busy schedule, convenience often won out over quality nutrition. I'd skip breakfast, rely on quick snacks, and push through intense training without giving my body the fuel, sleep, and recovery it needed.
Despite working hard, my results didn't match my effort. I felt low on energy, struggled with recovery, and didn't see the progress I wanted in strength and muscle. This experience made me realize that training is only one piece of the puzzle—proper nutrition is crucial.

My unique coaching approach
Beyond certifications, my approach is shaped by a strong academic foundation and personal athletic insight. As a third-year undergraduate student studying Exercise Science, I've developed a deep understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and how the body adapts to physical demands. This background helps me connect nutrition, performance, recovery, and an athlete's overall training process.
As an athlete myself, I truly understand the complexities of balancing intense training, academics, busy schedules, and daily responsibilities. I know what it feels like to work hard in the gym and still question if you're eating enough, recovering properly, or making the right choices to reach your goals.
My approach is different because I don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. I focus on helping athletes understand the 'why' behind their nutrition choices and create realistic habits that fit their individual goals, training demands, and lifestyle. I emphasize strategies that support long-term performance.

What to expect from my coaching style
My coaching style is supportive, encouraging, and education-focused. I believe nutrition should feel empowering, not overwhelming. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where athletes feel heard, supported, and confident in their choices.
When you work with me, you can expect a coach who is understanding, approachable, and truly invested in your individual goals. I take the time to understand your training demands, lifestyle, preferences, and challenges to create realistic strategies that seamlessly integrate into your everyday life.
